Mommy Mistakes...

Okay so my first week as a Mom would be explained like this... unprepared!

to sum up the story... we went to the hunting show (at one week old his Daddy wants to start him early) He had a major blow out and I only had one set of clothes... the ones he was wearing. So poor little boy had to be covered in blankets and ride home in just his huggie... wrapped in blankets... Way to go Mom! We now have an extra set of clothes in the diaper bag not to repeat such a mistake.

Current feelings as a Mom
Absolute Love I LOVE THIS LITTLE BOY!
Exhaustion I have actually felt awesome until about 4 days ago and I am so tired...
Worrying like never before... is someone going to take my baby, is he sick, he feels hot, is he getting enough to eat... etc
I should get ready... its noon
Get up before 9 AM how???
Get out of the house before noon and be ready HOW?

My in-laws came to stay for a few days to help THANK YOU, My sister came for the weekend and now my Mom is here to help we have one loved little boy and feel so blessed to have him here! Thank You everyone for meals and flowers and calls to check in on us!

On a side note... people keep saying I hold him too much and am spoliing him rotten... well I've come to the conclusion that I get to. I know what it feels like to have a baby and not get to have him to hold and to kiss and to watch every minute so that is how I will currently spend my days holding and loving and not missing a minute because I'm his Mom and I want him to know just how much we love having him here.
Pics to come of all our visitors :)

I agree with you Janet. ;) You just love that little boy. I'm sure you'll figure out exactly what he needs. :)

This post makes my heart happy. And I agree with Princess Karra: Just love him, and you'll figure out what he needs. Listen to noone, but your own heart♥

personally, it annoys me when people say that. YOU LOVE HIM FOR EVERY SECOND YOU WANT TO! I hope you got my message... anyway, been thinking about you. Just remember, this time goes fast. Each week you will feel more confident and figure the little things out. There will come a day that you get ready before 9, but until then just enjoy that you don't have too!!!!!!! Sometimes, maybe even a little more often than I care to admit, I'm not ready before 9. ha ha. love you girl, I love G, I wish I could hold him. Maybe this summer when I'm up there! Even though he will be a whole different little squirt. Call me when you can, and just know I'm thinking of you and sending sleep vibes, and love thoughts your way!

Oh Janet I love this post! Motherhood is definitely a trial and error thing and you learn as you go. I've been a mother for almost 5 years and most days I'm not ready by 9...not even close. You love on that baby as much as you want. I didn't go through an experience even close to your's but when my little Melia was in the NICU and I couldn't hold her as much as I wanted and then later when she was sick at PCMC. And when I got her home I held her, and held her, and held her. I once heard a pediatrician say that you can never spoil a newborn by holding them too much. Give him an extra squeeze from me.

please tell aunt kayla that by hunting show, you meant, scrapbooking show? hehehe

i love that you say "my answer to that is - I get to" dang right, tell em sister!!!!

Just follow your intuition and heart and do what YOU need to do to get sleep and rest relax. DOn't worry about anyone else but you and your fam!!!

love you!!

You hold that baby boy every minute of everyday. You cannot spoil a newborn. There will be a time soon enough when you will be ready to give him alone time. Don't sweat the small stuff babies are a lot tougher than we give them credit.

We took Maggie to the Boating show two weeks after she was born too. we ran into my Dr. there and I felt like an idiot. He was just glad we were out and about. Not to mention introducing Maggie to boating so early. Ahh fathering priorities. I ran into the issue of where to feed Maggie (as a new struggling breast feeder) so I hid under a boat and Brooks held a blanket in front of me, a guy happened to look over the boat and saw my tata's from above Nice one!!

Oh parenting joys!! Glad all is going well!!

PS just when you think you have figured it all out and you have packed everything. He will poop through TWO outfits and you will be in the same predicament. I have purchased many an outfit in this situation. Parenthood: A surprise around EVERY corner.

I think there is no such thing as spoiling a newborn. Hold them all day long! We can't wait to see you this weekend. And you'll totally get this mommy thing, you definitely will learn by trial and error!!!

You keep loving that baby, you can't spoil him, he's a baby. Someone told me that before, and i thought to myself, There is no such thing as spoiling a baby.
Grayson is still new, and hard to put down (for anyone). PLus good thing about being the parent. You get to make the rules hehe! I loved my baby brother too much and my mom would always tell me "quite mauling him, your kissing him too much" So when i had my own baby, I kissed him and loved him and never wanted to put him down.
My boys are 4 and 6, and I still love and kiss, and cuddle them (probably too much), But it's not going to hurt a child to know that they are loved, Right?
I am so happy for you, the tired phase will pass, Get some sleep while your mama is there and you still can. When she leaves, YOu will really be tires.
Good luck, Janet..love you guys

There will always be advice out there from others.

Go with your instincts and do all the spoiling you want.

Live and learn right?

He is such a tiny little guy. Who cares if you hold him too much. He's way to cute to put down. Congrats!

P.S. Love his U hat.
